Zebra crossing receives an upgrade

A zebra crossing on Horton Grange Road near to the junctions of Spencer Road and Woodhead Road is to be upgraded to a signalled pelican crossing.

Funding has been secured from this year’s Safer Roads programme with support from Bradford West Area Committee and Bradford Council has successfully completed the legal and statutory requirements for the new crossing.

Contractors have now been scheduled and work is due to start week commencing Monday 9 October with the work due to be completed by Sunday 5 November.

Councillor Alex-Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “This zebra crossing has recently been the scene of several incidents where drivers have failed to stop for those crossing the road and new crossing with traffic lights should make it safer. We have prioritised this scheme for progression and the funding has been identified. Now that the necessary statutory process has been undertaken and a suitable contractor has been secured, work can commence.”
