  • A Transport Assessment is required for major development proposals likely to have significant transport implications.
  • A Transport Statement is required for major development proposals which would have less than significant transport implications

What information is required?

The coverage and detail of a Transport Assessment should reflect the scale of the development and the extent of the transport implications of the proposal.

A Transport Assessment should be brought forward through collaborative ongoing working between key interested parties and communities and quantify the travel characteristics of the development by all modes or travel, the resulting impact on transport infrastructure and identify Pre application scoping is key to ensuring an acceptable transport assessment.

A Transport Statement may be submitted where it is agreed that transport issues arising out of development proposals are limited and a full transport assessment is not required. However, the scoping and supporting evidence outlined above still applies.
