What information do we collect

Why do we use this information?

We use your information to administer and deliver public services, for example Leisure centre gym membership, Bradford Leisure Card, Library Account information etc

For some services we process your data under a contract, for example your leisure centre membership, concert ticket sales or leases

We use social media to broadcast messages and updates about events and news. On occasion we may reply to comments or questions you make to us on social media platforms.

Accident reporting and third party claims.

Promotion and marketing of the Council services and the Bradford District

Health data is collected to ensure the health and well-being of our customers

Performance of the service

Research or Customer Satisfaction requirements

Monitor progress of children during swimming lessons for performance and record keeping

What authority does CBMDC have to collect and use this information?

Official Vested Authority

The main basis of our official vested authority is as follows, however this list is not exhaustive:

  • Local Government Act 1972 and 2000
  • Local Government Finance Act 1988, 1992 and 2012

In the rare circumstance that we do not have a legal or official vested authority to use your information, we will obtain your consent first.

Who are we likely to share this information with?

Your information will be used for the purposes of City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

We may pass your information to our third party service providers, agents subcontractors and other associated organisations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (for example to send you mailings). However, when we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service and we have a contract in place that requires them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes.

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so. We will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

How do we keep this information secure?

Your information is stored securely on database and document management systems with stringent access and use policies. We also undertake quality checks and monitoring to ensure the information we hold is accurate at the time and being used appropriately.

How long do we keep this information?

We have a record retention schedule which details how long we keep different types of records and what we do with them when we no longer need them.

What are your rights?
