Benefits advice and support

The Government's website provides advice ranging from benefits and job opportunities to funeral expenses and education and learning. Many applications can be submitted online through this site such as for car tax.

Depending on your current financial circumstances you may be entitled to some of the following benefits:

Bradford Council benefits

If you are struggling financially you may be entitled to certain benefits:

  • Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction – for help with paying for rent and Council Tax
  • Discretionary Housing Payments – for those struggling with housing costs; you must be in receipt of Housing Benefit or the Housing element of Universal Credit to apply
  • Assisted Purchase Scheme – to help with buying second hand items, for example furniture or white goods; available to people who are both:  in receipt of certain benefits and experiencing particular difficulties.
  • Free School Meals – support with school meals for those on low incomes and those in receipt of certain benefits

The Citizens Advice service offers practical, up-to-date information and advice on a wide range of topics, including; debt, benefits, housing, legal, discrimination, employment, immigration, consumer and other problems.
