Air quality in the Bradford District
Air pollution impacts on health throughout our lifetimes. Children and older people are at the greatest risk from the long term impacts of air pollution.
Bradford Council carries out air pollution monitoring and develops plans to improve air quality in our District. This work is overseen by the council’s Sustainability team.
Please visit our dedicated air quality pages on the Breathe Better Bradford website to find out more information about:
- Bradford Council’s air quality monitoring
- Bradford’s Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs)
- Bradford’s air quality Annual Status Reports (ASRs)
You can also find more information on the Breathe Better Bradford pages about:
- Sources and types of pollution
- Health impacts of air pollution
- What is being done to improve air quality in Bradford
- Smoke Control Areas (SCAs) and rules regarding domestic smoke emissions
If you are being regularly adversely affected by smoke emissions from a neighbour’s bonfire or a smoking chimney the Environmental Health team may be able to investigate.
There is more information about smoke nuisance issues on our webpage.
Bradford Clean Air Zone
To help improve air quality Bradford has a Clean Air Zone (CAZ) managed by the Sustainability Service
You can find more information about the location of the Bradford CAZ and details about who needs to pay to enter the CAZ on our website.
