Air Quality Action Plans

Bradford has declared several Air Quality Management Areas (AQMA) and a Clean Air Zone (CAZ). A number of Air Quality Action Plans (AQAPs) have been drawn up to improve air quality in these areas.

Bradford published its first AQAP in 2009 and has since developed a Low Emission Strategy (LES) (2013) and the Bradford Clean Air Plan (B-CAP) (2020). It also helped to develop the West Yorkshire Low Emission strategy adopted in 2016.

Progress on delivering Bradford’s air quality action plans and low emission strategies is reported each year in the Annual Status Report.

We are currently developing  a Particle Reduction Strategy which will focus on reducing emission of particles from a range of additional emission sources.
