General Election 2024
Following the announcement of the Prime Minister, Parliament will be dissolved and a general election held on Thursday, 4 July 2024.
There are 5 constituencies within the Bradford District area: Bradford East, Bradford South, Bradford West, Keighley and Ilkley, and Shipley. Each constituency is represented by a Member of Parliament, who will be elected on Thursday, 4 July.

Registering to vote
In order to vote in this election, you must be registered to vote and be either a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen. Citizens of European Union member states are not eligible to vote in General Elections.
The deadline to register to vote for this election is midnight on Tuesday, 18 June 2024.

Voting by post
If you wish to vote by post and do not currently have a postal vote in place, you will need to apply for one by 5pm on Wednesday, 19 June 2024.

Postal vote packs
These will be delivered by 1st class post sent in 2 batches:
- applications in place up to and including Tuesday, 4 June will be posted on Wednesday, 19 June
- all applications made between Wednesday, 5 June and 5pm on Wednesday, 19 June will be posted on Tuesday, 24 June
Voting by proxy
To vote by proxy (appoint someone you trust to vote on your behalf) you need to apply for one by 5pm on Wednesday, 26 June 2024. If you are an overseas voter, we strongly recommend you consider voting by proxy instead of by post. If you already have a postal vote and wish to vote by proxy instead, the deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday, 19 June 2024.

Standing as a candidate
If you wish to stand as a candidate at the general election, you must be validly nominated as a candidate by 4pm on Friday, 7 June 2024.
