Op Snap - Dash Cam submissions
West Yorkshire Police have developed a form that can be used by the public to submit dash cam footage of dangerous driving.
The footage is reviewed by the police to see if an offence has been committed and whether it will be possible to progress with action against the offender.
The form can only be used for driving offences, and it is not for submitting footage of Road Traffic Collisions or public order offences, and is not for reporting crime
To ensure the best outcome, the footage should include:
- The offending vehicle’s number plate, this must be visible.
- It must be moving video, photos can’t be used.
- The incident should be reported as soon as possible and no later than 10 days after as there are certain time limits in legislation which must be complied with.
To find out more and to submit footage, visit West Yorkshire Police’s website.
Thank you to anyone who submits footage, you are helping to improve road safety.
I have concerns about driver behaviour other than dangerous driving – where should I go?
- Please go to the report it section of the Council website.
- There are a number of dedicated forms for reporting a crime, or issues with driver behaviour, to West Yorkshire Police. In an emergency always dial 999 where there is a threat to life or a crime in progress.
In non-emergencies, you can also contact West Yorkshire Police via 101 or their Live Chat option.
