Doe Park Water Activities Centre and Adventure Development Summer Holiday Courses

Doe Park Water Activities Centre situated on Doe Park reservoir in Denholme is a great place to learn, play and have a go at sailing, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, dragon boating, raft building, archery, climbing, abseiling, high ropes, bush craft and survival activities.

The Adventure Development unit is based at Baildon Recreation Centre and compliments the activities at Doe Park with mountain biking, climbing, abseiling, archery, caving, gorge scrambling, walking, bush craft and survival activities.

With so many activities on offer they are the perfect places to have an adventure!

Doe Park Swing and Splash

Join us for a swing and splash session with activities ranging from kayaking, paddleboarding and raft building to scaling new heights and building confidence on our amazing high ropes course.

Doe Park mini adventure

A great chance for your child to experience the outdoors from an early age. All activities will be tailored for the age group and weather conditions on each day. Activities will include some or all of the following: kayaking, rafting, Mega SUP, climbing and abseiling. 

Parents do not need to stay with their child.

Doe Park Multi Adventure

These courses are challenging and fun. You do not need any experience, but it is advised that younger children try out one of our shorter courses first before committing to a full week. You will have chance to learn and develop your skills in a variety of outdoor activities.

Taste of the Olympics 2024

To celebrate the summer of Olympics in Paris this year we thought we would dedicate a whole week of activities so you can experience what it feels like to be an Olympian in some of the most exciting sports on the Paris 2024 programme.

We offer sailing, canoeing, archery, mountain biking, climbing and bouldering across our centres all of which you will see Team GB compete in this year in Paris.

Also, as an added extra on this week we will also introduce you to a range of other competitive sports such as kayaking, dragon boating and paddleboarding just because we can!

You may think that all sounds a bit too competitive for my child, but please do not worry we do not expect you to be at the standard of an Olympian just yet and all activities are suitable for beginners, even an Olympic gold medal winner had to start somewhere!

Multi Olympic Week

Join us for our Olympic themed week, on each day you will gain skills in a variety of Olympic sports, along with some friendly competitions. See the below individual days for the daily programme.

Please note the Thursday drop off and pick up point will be Baildon Recreation centre.

Olympic Paddlesports

Participants will get the chance to try some of the paddlesport activities that they may see taking place in the Olympics along with an introduction to paddleboarding. Throughout the day we will developing our skills then putting your speed, coordination, problem solving, and balance to the test in our Olympic style races and challenges. This is a fantastic opportunity for participants to try new activities or develop exist skills and take part in friendly competitions and challenges.

Olympic sailing

Participants will have a full day of sailing developing the necessary skills to be confident in being able to sail your very own boat. Once we are all experts, we will be holding an Olympic style sailing race, we will have to use the skills we have learnt throughout the day to complete a set course in a huge multi boat race!

Olympic climbing/high ropes

Participants will take to the skies, on our climbing walls with some warm-up and skills development sessions. After becoming great climbers, we will be going head-to-head in some friendly competitions that will put our climbing skills to the test. There will also be chance on this day to try out some of our additional high ropes activities.

Mountain biking/bouldering - meet at Baildon Recreation Centre

The day starts with us getting our helmets and gloves on then fitting out our mountain bikes for a mountain biking skills development session outside the centre.

Following this we will be packing our lunches and climbing shoes into our bags and setting off on an epic mountain biking journey. Around mid-day we stop for our lunch in the wilderness, this provides us with a fantastic opportunity to take arrest from the bikes and try a bit of bouldering.

Bouldering is a form of climbing where we do not go very high but attempt some technical little sections on climbing. We then end the day by finishing our journey and giving the bikes a good clean!

Olympic canoeing, archery and dragonboating

On this day we start with some tandem canoeing picking up some basic skills on how to move through the water, before getting out the biggest boats we have at Doe Park, the dragon boats! Then we will move to archery, with steady hands and pinpoint accuracy we end the day with an Olympic style archery competition.
