Heritage Impact Assessments
The Bradford District has a rich historic environment and there is an abundance of heritage assets, both designated and undesignated including: the Saltaire World Heritage Site, Scheduled Monuments, Listed Buildings (Grades I, II* and II), Conservation Areas, Registered Battlefields and Registered Parks and Gardens.
As part of the preparation of the new Local Plan the allocation of sites must be justified and supported by a robust and credible evidence base. Consideration needs to be given to the range of environmental constraints found in the District. This includes the historic environment and heritage assets.
Where proposed new development sites are likely to have an impact on heritage assets, the significance of the impact needs to be assessed and a determination as to whether it can be reduced or mitigated needs to be made, in order to deliver sustainable development. This is done by carrying out a heritage impact assessment (HIA).
At the Regulation 18 stage of the preparation of the Local Plan, an initial site assessment identified which sites required a HIA. Further details on the HIA process and the findings from these assessments can be found in the HIA report below:

Further HIAs are currently being prepared for the remaining housing and employment sites in the Local Plan which require assessment. These will be made available at the Regulation 19 (Publication) consultation stage.
