Employment Land Review
The Employment Land Review was carried out at the end of 2007 in accordance with ODPM best practice guidance issued in December 2004.
The Report informs the development of policies in the Core Strategy Development Plan Document. It will also help to identify future sites for new industrial and commercial development as part of the Land Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD).
Based on the Regional Econometric Model, the Review assesses how potential future employment growth patterns will impact on the demand and supply of employment land in the District, taking account of local and regional property market trends and an analysis of labour market information and employment data.
The Review comprises two main components:
- An assessment of the demand for land in the District, in both quantitative and spatial terms, for the main employment uses and business sectors
- An assessment of both the extent and suitability of the existing supply of available employment land in the District to accommodate future market demand
Employment Land Review Update - 2011
Due to recent changes to the structure of the national and local economies, particularly following the 2008 recession, officers of the Council have undertaken an update this review as an addendum to the original document. In the directly relevant chapters, economic analyses and projections have been updated, incorporating the most recent employment, economic and market statistics.
