Evidence, data and monitoring
Bradford District Housing Requirement Study
One of the key roles of strategic planning is to estimate the future level of new housing required and to set housing requirement targets in the Local Plan which then determine the amount of land needed for new development.
With the Regional Spatial Strategy for Yorkshire and the Humber now revoked by the Secretary of State, the responsibility for setting these targets rests with the Council.
In line with emerging best practice, the Planning Service has commissioned consultants GVA to produce a Housing Requirement Study (HRS) which will provide the necessary robust and independent evidence in support of the Core Strategy.
The initial report produced by GVA is available below. The study used the most up to date data available at the time, most notably the 2010 based Sub National Population projections and 2008 based Sub National Household Projections together with projections of the future performance of the local economy taken from the Regional Econometric Model.
GVA have now completed an update addendum report to be read alongside the initial report. The update report re-runs the two core scenarios within the initial report using the data from the Interim 2011 Based Sub National Household Projections issued by the Government in April. The addendum report can be read or downloaded via the link below.
