Crematoria price information
In accordance with legislation introduced by the Competitions and Marketing Authority 2021, please see below price information for the services we provide. The information is structured to help you compare prices with other service providers and make informed choices with regards to your funeral requirements.

You can pay by debit card.
Please note that no charge will be made for a normal cremation of children up to the age of 18 years as Bradford Council will reclaim the charges from the Government's Children's Funeral Fund.
Options vary at each crematorium. Please check with Bereavement Services.
All charges include VAT where applicable, items VAT applicable are marked *
Please note Bereavement Services will seek to recover all costs, without limit and including staff time, relating to damage caused by any items which should not be placed in a coffin due for cremation, for example glass, PVC, metal coffin floors, mobile phones, ceramic mugs.
Crematoria (cremations)
The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council operate three crematoria Shay Grange, Scholemoor (Scholemoor will be replaced by Bierley Woods Crematorium in 2026) and Oakworth Crematorium.
Service times for the Service Halls include time for arrival and departure and are as follows:
- Shay Grange: 45 minute intervals which allows for 30 minute service, 10 minute arrive and leave time
- Scholemoor: 40 minute intervals which allows for 25 minute service, 10 minute arrive and leave time
- Oakworth: 45 minute intervals which allows for 30 minute service, 10 minute arrive and leave time
- Bierley Woods: 45 minute intervals which allows for 10 minute arrive and leave time
- Extended service times are available on request (additional fee payable)

The cremation fee includes:
- the Medical Referee fee £26
- the Environmental Levy of £59
- eco-friendly container for cremated remains
- use of the Obitus Music System
- use of the keyboard (does not include organist which the funeral director must arrange)
- the strewing of cremated remains (no attendance)
- and the Certificate for cremation, if required.
Environmental Levy
Stricter legislation has required crematoria to fit additional equipment to further clean the emissions to air generated by the cremation process. With the approval of DEFRA crematoria have been advised to levy a charge on all adult cremations. This charge is for the purpose of covering the capital costs of the initial installation of equipment, its subsequent renewal and the additional running costs associated with the abatement equipment.

Life membership certificates of the Cremation Society are accepted subject to the balance of costs, if any being met from the estate of the deceased.
