Bradford Council and partners' Armed Forces Covenant Pledge
The Council and Partners Pledge
The Council and its partners are committed to supporting the local Armed Forces Community and signed an Armed Forces Community Covenant Pledge on the 30 January 2012 to reflect this commitment.
The Armed Forces Community Covenant (now known as the Armed Forces Covenant), encourages local communities to come together to support the Armed Forces Community in their area and promote understanding and awareness of the issues that affect them.
The Council and Bradford District organisations who signed the Community Covenant Pledge are committed to working to:
- Encourage local communities to support the armed forces community in their areas and to nurture public understanding and awareness among the public of issues affecting the armed forces community.
- Encourage the civilian community to offer support to the local Armed Forces community and make it easier for Service personnel, families and veterans to access the help and support available from the MOD, from statutory providers and from the Charitable and Voluntary Sector.
- Recognise and remember the sacrifices faced by the armed forces community.
- Ensure that serving and former Armed Forces personnel, including reservists, and their families, face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services.
- Give special consideration to the Armed Forces Community, as appropriate in some cases, especially for those who have given the most such as the injured and the bereaved.
- Encourage activities which help to integrate the armed forces community into local life.
- Encourage the armed forces community to help and support the wider community, whether through participation in events and joint projects, or other forms of engagement.
The Armed Forces Community includes: those serving members of the forces, both regular and reservist, former members of the forces, and their families.
