What to do with old furniture and household items
Lots of things people throw away are still in good condition. Instead of binning them, you can:
Give it away
- Ask your family, friends or neighbours if they want it
- Take it to a charity shop or community project
- Join Freecycle or Freegle - these are websites where people give away things for free.
Sell it
- Try selling online on sites including Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Gumtree and Preloved.
- You can also sell at car boot sales or similar events.
Take it to a recycling centre
- If your item can't be reused, take it to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre
- You can also book a bulky waste collection for a small fee
Donate furniture and electrical items
These places will collect good quality furniture and household items for free and given them to people who need them.
