What information do we collect

Client Services may collect some or all of the following information about you in connection with projects it undertakes on behalf of council departments.

  • Name
  • Address
  • Postcode
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Responses to consultation

Who uses this information?

This information is used by officers in Client Services. It may also be used by other relevant council and government departments where it is legal to do so.

What authority does Bradford Council have to collect and use this information?

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulations, CBMDC collects and uses this information under powers given to Local Authorities (councils).  The following categories of lawfulness apply:

6(1)(c) Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation

6(1)(e) Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller

Article 9 Processing by Consent, whereby the individual has given clear consent for you to process their personal data for a specific purpose

What is 'person identifiable data'?

The term 'person identifiable data' relates to any data that could potentially identify a specific individual. The following items of data are classified as person identifiable:

Name, age, address, postcode, place of birth, date of birth, gender, national insurance number or any information about an individual that can be used directly, or in connection with other data, to identify, contact or locate that person.

Why do we use this information? 

We use this information to meaningfully engage with all relevant stakeholders when carrying out projects on behalf of council departments. 

Who are we likely to share this information with?

The information will remain within the Client Services team, but may also be used by other relevant council and government departments where it is legal to do so. Before your personal data is shared we will request your consent where this is necessary under the regulations.

How do we keep this information secure?

Data will be held electronically on the Council’s central computer network which is secure and access controlled. Any information on paper will be held securely in a locked storage unit in the Client Services Office at Integrated House at the address on this page.

How long do we keep this information?

Information will normally be held for the duration of the project. The time will vary, but many of our projects take several years to develop and deliver.

What are your rights?

You have the right to request CBMDC to stop processing your personal data in relation to any council service. See our main Privacy Notice for details.

Wherever possible, we will seek to comply with your request but we may need to hold or process information in connection with one or more of the Council’s legal functions.

The UK GDPR includes the following rights for individuals:

  • the right to be informed
  • the right of access
  • the right to rectification
  • the right to erasure
  • the right to restrict processing
  • the right to data portability
  • the right to object
  • the right not to be subject to automated decision-making including profiling.
