If you need medical care
Public health is not the same as medical care. Medical care is provided by the NHS through GPs, clinics and hospitals. See below how to find the right service for your needs.
If you are very unwell
If you think you’ve got a life-threatening condition or had a serious injury, call 999 now or go to the closest emergency department (also known as A&E).
Emergencies are different for adults and children. You can find a list of common emergencies and more information on how to receive help on the NHS website.
If you think you need medical help
If you think you need medical help but you're not sure what to do, call 111 or go to 111 online and a trained advisor will tell you what to do next.

If you want to register with or book a GP
Anyone in England can register with a GP to use NHS services. It’s free and you don’t need ID, proof of address or immigration status.
GP surgeries are usually the first contact if you have a health problem. They can treat many conditions, give health advice, and refer you to other NHS services.
You can find a GP close to you and more information on the NHS website.
Services available in pharmacies
Pharmacies can offer advice and over the counter medicine for minor illness. Many pharmacies also offer prescription medicines for some conditions like respiratory and urinary infections and skin problems.
Find out how pharmacies can help on the NHS website.
Some pharmacies in Bradford offer additional services like
