Apply for a discount based on your personal circumstances
Some people may not be counted when working out a Council Tax bill. If only one adult is counted, you may get a 25% discount. If no adults are counted, you may get a 50% discount.
Some homes may also get a full discount, meaning no Council Tax is paid.
Discounts and exemptions

Other people who may qualify for a reduction
Call 01274 437715 if you or someone in your home is:
- A student’s spouse or dependant who is not a British citizen and cannot work or claim benefits
- Under 20 and left school or college after 30 April (not counted until 1 November)
- A member of a religious community with no income or savings
- Aged 18 and still getting child benefit
- A student nurse
- Employed to provide care (for example, through an agency)
- Staying in a hostel or night shelter
- A member of a visiting force or international organisation
- A diplomat or someone with diplomatic immunity
- An apprentice earning less than £195 per week
- A youth training trainee
