Clean Air Residents Fund Programme

Apply for the Clean Air Residents Fund Programme here

We have now extended the criteria for the £10m funding available to LGVs and minibuses so that Bradford District residents can now also apply. The funding is to help residents upgrade their vehicles to meet the Clean Air Zone (CAZ) standards.

Residents must be registered at an address within the Bradford Metropolitan District prior to 14 June 2023 and continuously up to the time of grant application. The resident must own a non-compliant vehicle registered to the same address from prior to 14 June 2023 and continuously up to the time of application. Your non-compliant vehicle must be in use ‘on the road’ i.e. the vehicle must be insured, taxed and have a valid MOT during the period above.

Grants are not available to any applicant who has already upgraded or bought a compliant vehicle. Grants cannot be awarded retrospectively.

Please be aware that this scheme is also available to Bradford businesses. Residents who are planning to upgrade to a compliant vehicle should apply as soon as possible as funds are allocated on a first come first served basis.

With 2,300 grants available to residents and businesses, each up to £4,500 per vehicle, the grant covers:

  • the upgrade of non-compliant LGVs and minibuses to Clean Air Zone standards.
  • The purchase of a replacement Clean Air Zone complaint vehicle.

Grants of £4,500 per vehicle are also available for

  • the ongoing running costs of a fully electric vehicle (where owned or leased for a minimum of 2 years). The grant will be paid in 2 annual instalments.

For clarity, where this information refers to the Clean Air Zone vehicle standard, for LGV and minibuses, the standard is that the vehicle must be either Euro 6 diesel, Euro 4 petrol, Euro 4 petrol/LPG conversion, Euro 4 petrol/hybrid, fully electric or hydrogen fuel.
