If you are planning a visit to the Bradford District you may face a daily charge if you drive in the Bradford Clean Air Zone.
Check if the location you are visiting is inside the Bradford Clean Air Zone.
Charges for driving in Bradford's Clean Air Zone apply daily from midnight to midnight, 7 days a week, all year round. The daily charges apply for any 24 hour period you enter or are within the Clean Air Zone. For example, if you drive into the zone at 6.00pm on 1 April and then leave at 8.00am on 2 April, you would need to pay 2 daily charges.
It doesn’t matter if you live outside the Bradford District or if you use a passenger car or motorbike for work purposes (except private hire vehicles and hackney carriages)
A passenger car is classed as a M1 passenger car vehicle type on the vehicle V5c document (logbook). Please note, M1 passenger cars which are licensed as private hire vehicles or hackney carriages will still be charged if they are not compliant with Clean Air Zone vehicle standards.
Check our charging table which explains the compliance requirements for all vehicle types. You can also check if your vehicle is chargeable in the Clean Air Zone by checking with the DVLA central service at: Drive in a clean air zone - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Privately owned leisure vehicles (motorhomes, LGVs) which are not used for business purposes with Diesel Euro 6, Petrol Euro 4 or cleaner emission standards are compliant and will not be charged to drive in the Clean Air Zone.
Light Goods Vehicles and Car-Derived Vans that do not meet the emissions standards required are chargeable regardless of their use, be it private or business. Campervans and Motorhomes are chargeable if they do not meet the emissions standards according to their body type and vehicle class.
Bradford residents and businesses can apply for an exemption to charges for such vehicles, provided they were owned before 26 September 2022.
The first thing to do is check your vehicle on the Government website and encourage your friends, family and colleagues to do the same.
This will let you know if your vehicle will be charged for driving into any of the Clean Air Zones in the UK including Bradford. This is the same process for private and business vehicles.
If the vehicle checker shows that your vehicle will be charged to drive in the Clean Air Zone you will be charged daily to drive in the Bradford Clean Air Zone.
