International Women's Day

International Women’s Day is held annually to celebrate the achievements of women and this year it is even more poignant as we mark the centenary of women’s suffrage.

The suffragette movement brought the women’s vote to worldwide attention and the women in the Bradford district played an incredibly significant role.  It is important that as part of our celebrations this year we take time to remember this fascinating period of history to educate younger generations so they can fully appreciate the bravery of these pioneering women who won us the democratic rights we enjoy today.

The theme this year is ‘Press for Progress’.  There has never been a more important time for us to press forward and progress gender parity.   We have a wide variety of events planned in Bradford designed to inspire us and to bring communities together, encouraging us to think, act and Press for Progress.
