Paddle and Pause (adults only)
The Paddle and Pause sessions are adult only kayak and paddleboard sessions, for those wanting to take a “Pause” from their day and do something for themselves.
These sessions are open to people of any ability, whether you are a complete novice wanting to try something new, or a regular paddler wanting to meet like-minded people or just get out for a few laps around the reservoir, then these sessions are just for you.
We will have staff on hand to either just give you the basics and get you out on the water or give you a little more tuition its entirely up to you.
Looking after your health and wellbeing is now becoming the focus of many of our lives and getting out on the water in our beautiful surroundings is the perfect tonic.
Equipment Available
Sit on Top Kayaks and Paddleboards will be available on each session, and both are suitable for novices although paddleboarding does tend to be the wetter of the two! Just pick the craft you want to hire when you book.
"Pause"
We want to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for these sessions and along with the abundance of fun and laughter we tend to get during the actual session, we will also have hot drinks available for after each session (tea fund donations welcome). This gives participants chance to chat to staff and each other after the session.

Safety and risk
Centre staff will be on hand to offer guidance and tuition on these sessions if requested at the start of the session.
For participants wishing to independently paddle you are free to do so following a basic safety brief for any first-time visitors to the centre regardless of experience.
Paddlesport activities carry inherent risks, which cannot be entirely eliminated; in particular, those associated with cold water. Participants must be aware of and accept the risks, whilst taking responsibility for actions which minimise the risks to acceptable levels.
General rules
The following rules will help to keep activities safe and enjoyable for all:
- All participants must always wear a buoyancy aid once they enter the waterfront area. These are provided and included in the cost for all hire and launch bookings.
- Wetsuits are strongly recommended for anyone hiring a stand-up paddleboard. These are issued free of charge.
- If you do not wish to wear a wetsuit, please wear light weight quick drying clothing suitable for the weather on the day. You will get splashed whilst paddling.
- All paddleboards must have the leash always attached to their waist or ankle when on the water.
- Participants paddling Independently must ensure that their activities are within their own ability and confidence levels and appropriate to the prevailing weather conditions, if you are unsure, you are welcome to stay under the guidance of centre staff for the duration of the session.
- Participants who are launching their own craft must ensure they are well maintained. We do not allow launching of inflatable novelty pool floats, lilos or inflatable rowing boats. If you are unsure, please contact us.
- There is no swimming allowed, if you fall out of your craft please get back on immediately or in an emergency signal to be rescued. Anyone found to be not adhering to this rule or continuously capsizing will be asked to leave immediately and may be unable to book on any further sessions.
