Bradford Business Development Zone report
In 2020 the Council received the completed 'Business Development Zones' report from retained consultants BDP. The report looked at four areas of the District, namely:
- Bowling Back Lane Bradford
- Shipley from Saltaire to Dockfield Road
- Dalton Lane, Keighley
- Royd Ings, Keighley
All have a long history of employment related uses, but there was recognition by the Council that improvements would be needed to ensure they would still function as employment areas for existing and future business owners.
Over the course of 2019 BDP were therefore engaged to look at each area in more detail. They provided an initial assessment of how intervention could bring about regeneration of redundant land and premises and improve the quality of general environment. The full report is available for download below.
It should be noted this is a regeneration based report for spatial planning for future employment and provide a strategic basis for securing funding for projects. It is not intended to cut across the formal planning process for allocation of sites for development which is being undertaken by the Council’s Planning Department.
The report was prepared pre-Covid 19 and the potential long term effects on the demand for premises due to the virus are not considered. The document can be used to assist the Towns Fund Boards in identifying projects to support and promote to funders and partners.
