Clinical waste collections
We offer a clinical waste collection and disposal service for dialysis patients who are referred from hospital via a Renal Nurse.
- It is your nurse's or medical professional’s responsibility to dispose of your clinical waste if you've been treated at home.
- Sharp tubs must be returned back to the GP where they were provided from.
We cannot accept the following:
- medical implements needles, syringes and pens - return these to your doctor
- incontinence pads - bag these and put it in your domestic bin
- excrement and bodily fluids
- medication, tablets and creams - unwanted or out of date medicines should be taken to any community pharmacy for safe disposal
- blood, human or animal waste
- medical implements
Please do not under any circumstances put syringes, needles or sharps bins in any of your household waste bins. You should only use a sharps bin to dispose of used syringes, needles or sharps. When the sharps bin is full, it should be returned to your provider or alternatively it can be taken to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre where it will be disposed of properly.
