The Brownfield register

The Council is required to prepare and maintain annually, a Brownfield Register of sites which are considered to be suitable, available and achievable for residential development within 15 years. Bradford has published its register each year since 2017.

The purpose of the register is to promote sites which the Council wish to see come forward for new homes in order to stimulate regeneration and drive up housing delivery. The register contains details of sites which have existing planning permission in place for at least 5 homes together with sites of at least 0.25ha which the Council wish to see brought forward for development. These include sites identified in the emerging Local Plan and other sites which may have had residential permissions in the past, but have since expired.

Previous registers contained sites/buildings which fell below the size threshold and included sites where planning permission had been in place but where this has now expired. These sites have been removed from this version where no new evidence is available to indicate that the landowner/developers are likely to bring these forward. Also removed from this version are sites which are considered more likely to be developed for an alternative use and those where the landowner has provided information to state they are not available.

More information about Brownfield registers can be found on the Government website.
