What happens if my case is passed to an Enforcement Agency?
Direct payment to the Council should not be made.
If your case has been passed to the Council's external Enforcement Agents you will be unable to pay and you must contact the relevant agent:
- Jacobs: 0345 601 2692
- CDER: 0330 460 5295
If a payment is made to the Council then you will still be liable for any costs incurred since the case passed across to enforcement.
How much do I have to pay?
Littering from vehicles is charged at £100.
The longer you wait before you pay the penalty charge, the more it will cost you.
If you pay within 14 days
If you pay your littering from vehicle penalty within 14 days the charge will be reduced to £80.
If you pay within 28 days
After 14 days, you will have to pay the full charge.
If you do not pay within 28 days
If payment is not received within 28 days, the registered keeper of the vehicle may be sent a Charge Certificate and the cost of the original penalty charge will be increased by 50% of the original charge.
What will happen if I don't pay?
If payment is not made 21 days after receipt of the Charge Certificate we may register the charge with the Traffic Enforcement Centre (TEC) at Northampton County Court to recover the unpaid charge. This will add further costs.
We may then take legal action against you which can involve using Enforcement Agents to recover unpaid penalty charges and there will be further costs to pay.
