District and Ward Plans
We would like to thank all community organisations and volunteers who have worked tirelessly over the last two years to support vulnerable individuals get through and unprecedented time in Bradford. Many public, private and voluntary organisations have worked in partnership on projects delivering on medical support and food distribution to people across the district. The Neighbourhoods and Stronger Communities Team have been an intrinsic part of the neighbourhood level support and coordination of key services and diverting personnel and resources to communities across the district.
Despite these new challenges we have undertaken a number of initiatives to support our equalities and diversity objectives.
The Stronger Communities Team have been actively working with Racial Equality Network and Equality Together on Our ‘Covid Community Champions’ which is a partnership approach with 49 organisations, over 260 volunteers and has reached over 6,000 residents, increasing vaccination take up within minority groups and those with disabilities.
Our team has also engaged in the following projects:
- We have launched the Inclusive Employers Toolkit, which was co-designed with over 45 employers such as Provident Financial to Yorkshire Building Society. Over 100 employers have made a commitment towards improving their EDI policies and practices
- We believe in holistic approaches that tackle not only organisational policy and practice but culture, providing space for reflection for senior leaders and employees. Our EDI training has ranged from Unconscious Bias to Critical Thinking training and has now trained over 527 employees across the district, equipping our workforce with the skills they need to work effectively and sensitively with our diverse communities.
- We are pioneering the first ever multi-agency Roma Strategy, co-created with over 100 Roma residents and complemented by our EU Settlement Scheme, processing 42,000 applications. Our Roma network includes over 40 organisations; which emerged from working together to celebrate and improve life for Roma people, and is an example of a sustainable legacy.
