Join our team as a Neighbourhood Warden

Join Our Team. We are recruiting Neighbourhood Wardens
  • Are you interested in making a real difference in Bradford’s neighbourhoods?
  • Do you like meeting different community members?
  • Are you fit and do you enjoy being out in the open air?

If so, this could be a fantastic job for you!

Neighbourhood Wardens help make a difference to the community and environment.

You will spend time engaging with residents, businesses, community groups, schools and other partners to encourage people to take more responsibility for the neighbourhood that they live in. This could include supporting a group of residents to organise a community clean-up, undertaking educational work with school children and businesses and organising other events promoting the Cleaner/Greener philosophy.

We are seeking to recruit energetic people who have:

  • Good communication skills and an approachable and friendly manner
  • Are able to lead by example, with a 'can do' attitude
  • Experience of working with the public
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Ability to use I.T. systems to record work activity and keep accurate records

Candidates will be required to work some unsocial hours and expected to be out and about patrolling the streets in all weathers.

Neighbourhood Warden job information

37 hours per week
(Working hours Monday to Thursday,  9am to 5pm, and Friday 9am to 4.30pm)

Interviews will be scheduled week commencing: 4 December 2023
Possible start date: January 2024

We have some excellent job opportunities available across our teams based in Bradford, Shipley and Keighley and are currently seeking practical and enthusiastic people with a passion for creating positive change in Bradford’s neighbourhoods.

You don’t need any prior experience as we’ll provide you with on-the-job training with opportunities to learn and develop your skills even further.

As part of your role, you’ll be assigned a ‘patch’, allowing you to get to know the community and build strong relationships with residents and community groups. This personal touch will enable you to understand the unique needs of individuals and families. You’ll be working alongside our Neighbourhood Connect Project which involves carrying out visits, providing support and linking people to local services.

One day you will be supporting residents to organise a fun day, the next day you could be working alongside Youth Services to run a food bank, or you could be delivering educational work to help reduce air pollution, particularly around schools.

So, if you have a passion for community development, a desire to make a difference and want a chance to grow both personally and professionally, we want to hear from you!

We would also like to hear from people fluent in Eastern European or Asian languages.

You will need to complete an application form and attend one of our assessment centres. You can open and complete the application form on our website.
